Reminders for print handwriting.
1- Hold your pencil correctly.
2- Sit using good posture.
3- Slant your paper slightly. (Right hander- top right corner up, Left hander-top left corner up)
4- Mount your paper. (Rest your non-writing hand on your paper to keep it from moving while you write or erase.)
5- Use a space between words.
6- Make letters the proper size.
(Small like a “duck”= is only to the middle line: a,c,e,i,m,n,o,r,s,u,v,w,x,z
Tall like a “giraffe”= to the top line: b,d,f,h,k,l,t
Fall like a “cat’s tail”= falls below the bottom line: g,j,p,q,y)
7- Try your best and keep going.
Is Your Pencil Grip “OK”
Pointer on the top,
Thumb along the side,
Keep your other fingers,
Hanging down beside.
Notes:
The pencil rests between the thumb and the first finger, the next finger prevents the pencil from falling down, and the last two fingers are tucked away. The hand rests on the table and the movement of the pencil is through the thumb and the pointer finger. It is important that the knuckles point outwards.
